Tēnei te mihi nui rawa ki a koutou katoa ngā whānau whānui o te kura tuatahi o Kawakawa, me ngā manuhiri kua taemai ki te tirotiro haere ki tēnei whārangi paetukutuku.
We are a class of 22 year 3,4 and 5 students. We are part of the Bilingual unit at our kura named by our whānau 'Rau Kumara, Rau Tangata' We are Ngā Rau Tipuranga'.
There are 3 classes in our unit named Ngā Rau Puawai our senior class. (Years 6, 7 , and 8), Ngā Rau Tipuranga our middle school class, (Years 3,4, and 5), and Ngā Rau Rito our junior class (Years 2 and 3).
This is our first blog for 2017. 😊
Our Learning...
We started this year off with 'Whakawhānaungatanga' getting to know each other, through 'Pepeha' and' Mihimihi ' , as well as doing 'Taumata' every morning in our kura marae, where we came together as a whole kura to promote 'Whakawhānaungatanga' throughout our kura.
We moved onto 'Harakeke'. We created an art piece that depicted our whānau within the 'Rau of the Harakeke ' placed upon a woven 'whariki' constructed with coloured paper and named the art piece 'Whānau Harakeke'. We also learnt some 'tikanga' surrounding the 'harakeke' plant around harvesting and becoming good 'kaitiaki' . We also made some harakeke putiputi for our whānau.
